Rules and Suggestions for a Good Practice
Here you will find the
rules in regards to practicing with the Disciples of Ameth.
We will not hesitate to enforce these rules, especially in regards
to safety.
-
Be in garb. Garb goes a long way in
letting people know that we're serious about what we do, even if
it is fun. Also, fighting in garb at every practice will help
your body learn how to move in your clothing and get you
accustomed to it's weight and pull.
-
Do not attend practice if you are not feeling
well. Not only do you run the risk of getting others sick
but also you will also not be able to fight at your best, and risk
injuring yourself.
-
Be courteous. If you hit someone in the face
with a weapon or other regions which are sensitive, sincerely
apologize. It is going to happen, though none of us want it to
and out of respect for each other, it might be considered "good
form."
-
Be cognizant of others health concerns.
Judge your opponent wisely and when in doubt err on the side
of caution and hit softer. It's better to die then to
hurt someone. This is not a game to worry about your pride
in, We never need to "HACK" at anyone.
-
Safety is of utmost concern, weapons will be
checked for safety at our practices.
-
This is a fun sport, keep it that
way. Don't be vulgar, rude, or cruel. If you display any of
these qualities you will be removed. Do not make yourself
OUR problem.
Some general tips, that are not
rules are:
-
Bring water, and plenty of it!
Proper hydration will allow you to fight, better, longer, and
avoid Charlie horses later on.
-
Proper nutrition can go a long way
to giving you a better practice. Though we won't preach on
what to eat (some of us have no room to talk...me)
It is common sense that if you eat 5 pounds of taco bell before
coming to practice, you will be sluggish and tired, not to
mention gassy. Think before you eat!
-
Knee protection is recommended.
Try to make it look period. You will be able to enjoy this sport
more if you can make it a life long endeavor. If you bust your
knees in your twenties, it will inhibit your fun and health in
the future.
